Former Castle of the Lords of Ems destroyed in the 14th century. Around 1418 new building by Hugo von Watt from St. Gallen. Around 1585 expansion into today's "Haus zur Burg" by Daniel and Christoph Studer. Came to Colonel Bruges von Salis-Soglio in 1661.
1923 Donation to the Bishop of St Gallen for the establishment of an educational institution for girls.
Renovated in 1949 and since then owned by the Seraphic Liebeswerk Solothurn
