The church in Pfreimd belongs to the pillar church type; it may have been the first of its kind in the Upper Palatinate. The overall structure is very similar to the long buildings of the Jesuits, especially the Jesuit Church of St. Ignatius (1631-1641) in Landshut. The stucco work in Pfreimd was still in the transitional stage from the older, stricter style of decoration of the 17th century to the later actual Baroque style.

Be sure to pay attention to the tombstones. Right in the choir of the Red Marble gravestone for the Landgrave Leopold von Leuchtenberg († 1463) arranged, with depiction of the deceased as a relief figure with closed eyes in tournament armor and resting on the dead pillow. This work was previously attributed to the master craftsman of St. Lorenz in Nuremberg, Matthäus Roritzer. On the left as a counterpart to it is the red marble plate of Heinrich von Leuchtenberg († 1567).
