At the Stadthaus you should take a look at the bell tower. With each carillon, some figures revolve around the top of the tower.

As early as 1399 there was talk of a 'raithuys' on the Markt. On July 16, 1554, a city fire reduced the city center to ashes and also destroyed the town hall. It was rebuilt in the following years. Around 1700, the town hall underwent a major renovation with the current facade. From then on it also served as a meeting place for the States of the Overkwartier of Gelre. In 1695, construction of a knight's chamber began. In 1876, the facade of the town hall was cemented according to a plan by the architect Ch. Weber. In 1905, the town hall was thoroughly restored and expanded, including a new council chamber. From October 1953 to 1955, renovations were carried out and the Markt 32 building was added to the town hall. Later, new construction was carried out behind the town hall (basement and four floors).
In the tower of the town hall there is a glockenspiel or carillon on top of which rotating statues pass by. The carillon was donated in 1982 on the occasion of the 750th anniversary of the city of Roermond. In 1995, the chimes were supplemented with a group of moving images that rotate around the town hall tower every afternoon at noon.

How beautiful it is here. The market place with the many cafés and the great carillon every half hour
