The now dry weed used to be the center of a historic rest stop on the way from Friedberg to Hanau. With at least seven inns, a smithy and a horse changing station, the essential needs of the travelers were covered. The former office building of Friedberg Castle, which is still impressive today, has dominated today's village square since 1782.
