In the double-span section of the flue-gas channel not far from the lead lodge, first of all stability should be ensured because of the high-burdened path leading to it, and secondly, most of the humidity with the sulfuric acid should condense quickly on the four high, cold wall walls. In this way, one wanted to largely avoid environmental damage in the further course of the channel and in the air ("acid rain").
