It is not known when a cross was erected here for the first time. This one was built in 2017 by the pensioners' group "Work instead of withering".
According to a legend, a long time ago it was planned to build a church on this spot. The centrally located place "Auf der alten Kirche" seemed particularly suitable for this. This is how stones were brought here for the construction of the church. The next day, however, the stones were again in Nachtsheim next to the local church of St. Stephen. It was rumored that the devil 👹👺 brought them back to the village to say that a place for a church in the parish was sufficient - so the legend goes.
