Below the castle ruins stands the chapel Virneburg,
The chapel was built in 1695 with the permission of Count von Löwenstein-Wertheim by the inhabitants of the place and the wife of Gerhard Berg on the house point on a rocky ridge below the castle. It was Benedictine in 1698. It is the successor of the already ruined castle chapel, which was located below the castle and had its own castle chaplain. In 1931, the chapel was built by Emma and Anne Lang, Chicago, for the love of mother Marie Lang. Heid, born in Virneburg in 1828 and deceased in Chicago in 1920, renovated.
