Like so many bodies of water in Brandenburg, the Great Plessower Lake lies in a glacial channel that was formed around 19,000 years ago during the Weichselian glaciation. It is a good five kilometers long and you will find some very nice bathing spots on its banks. Remember that you are sharing its banks with hikers, as the European long-distance hiking trail E10 runs along here.
