Impressive church building made of field stones from the 13th century, comparable to the field stone church in Grebbin, but different. It is the oldest building between Schwerin and Parchim. The structure of field stones and boulders is impressive. The simple monumentality of the compact sequence of buildings in Frauenmark: apse - choir - church nave, externally inseparable from the tower substructure, has something fascinating about it. The building is also complemented by a beautiful surrounding cemetery. Detailed information about the church can be found on the Internet, such as an exciting report by Lisch from 1860 (mvdok.lbmv.de/mjbrenderer?id=mvdok_document_00001760) as well as a comparatively detailed description of the parish of Klinken (https: / /kirche-mv.de/klinken/kirchen/kirche-frauenmark).

The church, founded around 1230, is one of the oldest churches in Mecklenburg, as stone church construction began in the early 13th century. A document from 1312 mentions Hermen von Dargun as the founder of the church and probably also as the founder of the village of Frauenmark near Crivitz.

In the middle of the village, on a small hill, rises the late Romanesque field stone church.

From east to west, the church consists of a semicircular apse, a slightly higher, slightly recessed chancel, the slightly higher, short nave and an equally wide square tower with a longitudinal gabled roof. The church is considered to be a late Romanesque fieldstone building of rare unity. The main material on the facades is fieldstone, the frames of the windows and doors are made of brick.

In fact, the apse and the choir, dendrochronologically dated 1247, are entirely Romanesque, as is the triumphal arch between the choir and the nave. However, all the openings in the slightly younger (1259) nave and the pediments of the tower have Gothic pointed arches. The tower is as wide as the nave and rises almost two meters above the nave. The screen gable is additionally decorated with pinnacles and limited at the bottom by a quatrefoil frieze against the fieldstone masonry. The gable, the round window underneath and the three-window group on the south side of the nave are made of brick and were partially renewed in stone formats true to the original during the repairs in 1872. The stepped west portal consists mainly of natural stone blocks. The apse is covered with a regular semi-dome, the chancel with an almost domical cross vault with indicated or only painted ribs. The north sacristy was built in brick. At the beginning of 2022, extensive renovation work on the cross-strut roof constructions of the gable roof and the tower as well as the repair of the masonry began.
