The water level of the adjacent Waddens Wisch is regulated by the Waddens pumping station, built in 1935. Excess rainwater is pumped into the Butjadinger inflow and drainage canal to the south and from there into the Weser near Beckum / Rodenkirchen.

The delivery rate of the pump from 1935 is approx. 600 liters per second. In recent years this task has been taken over by a new pumping station (Blexerwisch). The waddens pumping station is now only in operation when there is very heavy rainfall.

By setting up a place to take a break on the viewing platform, the building has found a useful second use 👍
