These two Danish islands, not far from Sønderhav, are full of stories and myths. The Grosse is privately owned and currently inhabited, the little one can still reach with a minicutter. The investor for this is right in front of Anni's kiosk, the most popular and best hot dog stand in the region. On foot you have the island quickly circumnavigated. To the open side of the fjord, it offers a small cliff

Meanwhile the traffic was stopped. You can only dock there with your own boat. However, since there is no jetty on the island and there are many very shallow parts in the water, great care is needed. When observing the nature reserve rules, you may stay on the island only on the trails. Camping is no longer allowed!

The Ox Islands (Danish: Okseøer) are two small Danish islands in the Flensburg Fjord in front of the town of Sønderhav. The Large Ox Island (Danish: Store Okseø) is 11 hectares in size and was inhabited by three permanent residents until a few years ago, while the Small Ox Island
(Danish: Lille Okseø) has long been uninhabited.

The islands are within sight of various areas of the city of Flensburg and can be seen in particular from the Baltic Sea resort and the Mürwik district and the Solitüde lido. They can also be seen from Meierwik, Glücksburg (Baltic Sea) and Holnis.

The Large Ox Island is now once again usable for landscape purposes and has a land area of around 7.5 hectares. On the island there is a campsite and a restaurant called Oens Kro with 110 covered spaces. In the summer season, the 360 m² winter storage hall can be used for events and concerts. The shipyard operations were also temporarily resumed. However, all of these activities have been suspended since 2016.

Along the fjord on the Danish side runs the Gendarmstien (Gendarme Path), a former control path of the Danish border police and now a hiking trail from which the islands are clearly visible. The islands offer an ideal anchorage for pleasure boats in their lee. On the publicly accessible Große Ochseninsel there is also a small jetty for the passenger ferry from the mainland, which ran from April to September until 2015 and departed diagonally opposite Sønderhav's well-known snack bar Annies Kiosk.

Coming from Flensburg harbor, several excursion boats circle the Ochseninseln. Seaplanes from the Sonwiker company Clipper Aviation also land on the beach of the large Danish Ochseninsel.
