There has been a mill on the outskirts of Zell for more than 700 years. It has its origins as an inheritance mill of the Schwarzach monastery and also belonged to it. It was not until 1840 that the mill came into the possession of the miller Franz Martin Niedhammer, whose family had been running the mill since the end of the 17th century.
