The Fränkische Freilandmuseum Bad Windsheim is a 45-hectare museum site on the southern edge of the old town of Bad Windsheim. The establishment of the open-air museum in the sponsorship of the district of Middle Franconia was decided on 27 July 1976 by the district council. In the spring of 1979, construction began on buildings moved from their original locations to the museum grounds.
