The Gerlachsheim monastery was first mentioned in documents in 1209. In the 14th century, the first heyday of the complex, 31 nuns lived here. After several changes of ownership, renovations and different uses, it is now owned by the state of Baden-Württemberg. The monastery currently houses a doctor's office, a school and a vocational preparation class. The former monastery garden is open to the public.

The monastery Gerlachsheim (also Premonstratensian Priority Gerlachsheim) is a former women's and later cloister of the Premonstratensian order in Gerlachsheim. Part of the monastery is the adjoining park, which was formerly used as a monastery garden. In 1228, the monastery was first mentioned at its present location. Twenty nuns and servants lived in the monastery at that time. They lived from the adjacent vineyard, today the Herrenberg, and the nearby forest. Currently, the Main-Tauber-Kreis is looking for a reuse for the building. It belongs to the state of Baden-Württemberg, to which it will be returned after expiration of the leasehold 2023. The park is open to the public and can be visited permanently.

Very magnificent church. From the outside you wouldn't think how spacious the inside is.
