Bridge with a panoramic view of Ponte Vecchio.

    Translated by Google •

Ponte alle Grazie is a bridge in the city center of Florence and crosses the Arno river a few hundred meters after the weir of San Niccolò with a structure of five arches. It goes from via de 'Benci to piazza dei Mozzi, crossed respectively with the Lungarni Generale Diaz and delle Grazie on this side of the Arno and Torrigiani and Serristori in Oltrarno.

Is really worth seeing and worth a visit. Touristically turbulent!

The Ponte Vecchio is a historic bridge over the Arno River in Florence, Italy. It was originally built in Roman times but has been destroyed and rebuilt several times. The current structure dates back to 1345.
                • Renaissance: The bridge is known for the shops located on it. Originally it was butchers and tanners who could throw their waste directly into the river. In the 16th century, Grand Duke Ferdinand I de' Medici ordered that only goldsmiths and jewelers could work on the bridge to eliminate the bad smell.
                • World War II: The Ponte Vecchio is notable for being the only bridge in Florence that was not destroyed by the Germans during World War II.

                Architecture:

                • The bridge has three segmental arches. Its architecture is unique because of the shops built on either side of the bridge that overhang the river.
                • A notable feature is the Vasari Corridor, an elevated walkway designed by Giorgio Vasari in 1565 to connect the Palazzo Vecchio with the Palazzo Pitti.

                Current Use:

                • Today, the bridge is a popular tourist destination and is home to numerous jewelry stores, art dealers, and souvenir shops. It is also a cultural symbol of Florence.
