Memorial for Adam von Trott above Imshausen

Friedrich Adam von Trott zu Solz (born August 9, 1909 in Potsdam; † August 26, 1944 in Berlin-Plötzensee) was a German lawyer, diplomat and resistance fighter against National Socialism.

Adam von Trott zu Solz was an opponent of the National Socialist regime from the start and has been demonstrably committed to its overthrow since 1939 at the latest. In addition, he developed far-reaching ideas for a free common Europe in the future. Trott belonged to the core of the Kreisau Circle resistance group. In close cooperation with Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg, he was involved in the conspiracy of July 20, 1944.

In 1949 Werner and Heinrich von Trott erected the memorial cross above Imshausen for their brother Adam von Trott zu Solz, who was murdered in 1944. Over the years the cross has become an impressive landmark, stimulating thought and motivating, like the memory of Adam von Trott, to work for the preservation of democracy and peace.

In 1999 the cross was renewed, but fell victim to the storm "Friederike" in January 2019 and was replaced by a newer, smaller memorial cross in July 2018.

Annually on July 20th A memorial service takes place at the Mahnkreuz on the occasion of the murder and in memory of Adam Trott zu Solz. Celebrities from Politk (Foreign Minister Heiko Maas) and the Church (Margot Käßmann, Bishop Dr. Hein) have already given commemorative speeches here.
