Nestled in rolling hills near the Hildesheim Forest lies the former Benedictine monastery from 1236.
In 1203, Lippold von Escherde, with the approval of Hildesheim Bishop Hartbert, donated the church and four farmsteads in Groß Escherde for the founding of a Benedictine monastery. In 1236, this monastery was moved to its current location in the Hildesheim Forest, which was then called Bovingehusen.
After the desecration in 1838, the place was renamed Haus Escherde.
From here there are beautiful excursion opportunities
into the Hildesheim Forest and the opportunity to stop off at the lovingly run Klosterstübchen pub!
