Tips

  • Andreas away

The 28 meter high Danzturm is freely accessible, as long as the restaurant in the neighboring building is open. If you have overcome the 100 steps to the outside observation deck, you overlook the city of Iserlohn and looks in good weather up to Dortmund, Unna and Hamm.

On the Drahthandelsweg from Altena to Iserlohn you pass the Danzturm. You should definitely take the time and climb the stairs of the Danzturm. A great view rewarded the small effort!

With a clear view, the view to the north is incredibly wide after a very short distance from the city. The Ruhr area to the Münsterland.

    << Danzturm >>
"... This lookout tower was built in 1909 and got its name in memory of the Iserlohn teacher Professor Ernst Danz. As a member of the Iserlohn Beautification Association, he was very concerned with the afforestation and maintenance of the Iserlohn city forest.
Today's restaurant was once an optical telegraph station. It was erected on Fröndenberg in 1832 and was number 43 on the Berlin - Koblenz route. The telegraph poles were equipped with movable crossbars and wooden arms, which, with a total of 4096 possible characters, could primarily transmit military messages via the route mentioned. The signaling device was destroyed by the insurgents during the revolutionary unrest on May 10, 1849; a replica has been in its original position since 1996 ... "

+++ +++ +++ +++ +++ +++ +++ +++ +++ +++ +++"... A tower with history. The new tower was inaugurated in 1909. It is 28 m high with a viewing platform that offers a wonderful panoramic view of the Sauerland low mountain range and in the north to Hellweg. The Danzturm is now one of the" lighthouses " the city of Iserlohn and is located in the middle of the city forest on Fröndenberg 384.5 m above sea level. The opening times of the tower are identical to those of the panorama restaurant of the same name ... "
