Cathédrale Notre-Dame Neuchâtel
Basilica of Our Lady of the Assumption
The Catholic church Notre-Dame de l’Assomption (German: Assumption of Mary), also called the Red Church, in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, was built by Catholics in the Reformed canton of Neuchâtel. It is the most important spiritual place for Catholics in the canton's capital. The neo-Gothic church, located in the diocese of Lausanne, Geneva and Fribourg, was planned by Guillaume Ritter and consecrated on March 25, 1906. After major renovations between 1984 and 2000, it was recognized as a national monument in 1986 and elevated to a minor basilica by Pope Benedict XVI in 2007.
