"Güldene Church" - The legend
A granite crest on the Steinberg, in which an ancient tunnel is located, was once dug for gold, is called the "Güldene Church".
A boy from Obstfelderschmiede in the nearby Schwarzatal had lost his way and fell into the tunnels.
All inquiries were unsuccessful, the child disappeared without a trace.
After a long time, the missing man appeared again as a man in Obstfelderschmiede. Now the wonderful story was told of the long-forgotten. As a boy he got lost in the Steinberg. He found the "Güldene church" and loaded with lots of gold and precious stones, he moved to a foreign land. There made his luck, the homesickness
but was stronger.
