The 23 hectare natural lake is about 7 km south of Tutzing and 4 km northwest of Seeshaupt. It is the largest of a number of bodies of water that are primarily used for fish farming. On its banks there are a number of private, not freely accessible properties that are used as bathing areas. However, this possibility is denied to the general public.
