An oil hammer mill stood for centuries on this site, on the northern arm of the Witte Nete. Together with the grain water mill on the southern arm of the Witte Nete and the surrounding land, it belonged to the Great Water Mill Farm of the last Retiese village lord, Count Joseph de Pestre.
The mill mainly crushed rapeseed and rapeseed into malt and fodder.
The half-buried millstone on the site still recalls the activity of more than a century ago.
Now it is a very quiet picnic area.
