From the Ponta do Sinó (lighthouse) to the fishing pier in Santa Maria runs a long sandy beach, behind which the local hotel chains are located. At the upper southwestern Cape, there is a reef in front of which the incoming waves break meters high on certain days. The beach area is slightly curved inwards until it runs away. On the upper coastline is a hotel complex next to the other. In the front section of the beach, sun loungers and parasols dominate the coastline. Up to the headland behind the Fischersteg one finds the ideal conditions to swim in the sea. Except for a few days you have here the least wave movement and almost flow-free water in the shore area.
Only in extreme weather conditions, such as the south wind or higher threshold is bathing not possible. Far in front of the fishing pier are several beach restaurants and beach clubs. Almost every hotel has a diving school or offers other water sports.

This dream beach with crystal clear, turquoise blue water is "the" capital of Sal and Santa Maria! My recommendation for all sandpipers ... 🌊
