A long easy slope up from the Dorchester side gives way to magnificent views over Weymouth et al. The way down is a bit convoluted but it gets you to the sea in not long at all.

In reverse it's a bit trickier, especially at the last hill where you'll already have spent a chunk of energy just getting to it. The whole of Dorset opens up for you at the top though, so there's that.

Road cycling

This is part of a good quality cycle way following in part the old Weymouth Dorchester road. It does have significant traffic alongside it but it is traffic free.There are various branches off to different parts of Weymouth and outskirts. It is not entirely flat! There is a climb just outside Dorchester and leading up to the Ridgeway . Nice to come down on the way back after you have done the work getting up Ridgeway.
