    Hiking

The Geological Trail is truly splendid with all its waterfalls, bridges and small lakes; the background sound of the river flowing then accompanied and made our descent from Terz'Alpe to Gajum very pleasant and relaxing. I think it is better to follow it, as recommended by the guides (clockwise loop), on the return rather than the outward journey.

This 4.8-mile (7.8 km) loop features a total elevation gain of 1197 feet (365 metres) and typically takes around 2 hours and 41 minutes to complete. As you hike, you will discover numerous whimsical wooden sculptures by artist Alessandro Cortinovis, depicting gnomes, elves, and other magical forest inhabitants, creating a truly imaginative journey. The path varies from comfortable mule tracks to more rugged sections with river crossings and alternating flat and uphill stretches, immersing you in an "enchanted forest" atmosphere.

This trail is particularly well-suited for families, though it is not suitable for strollers due to the varied terrain beyond Prim'Alpe. You can start your adventure from Canzo, following the comfortable mule track towards Prim'Alpe. The loop offers a diverse experience, with the option to return via the Sentiero Geologico, which showcases impressive natural features like giant's kettles and petrifying springs.
