The small village of Falkenstein is idyllically situated in the middle of the surrounding vineyards. Particularly noteworthy buildings are the Nikolauskirche and the rectory.

You will also find two inns here that are perfect for a break.

Today's church of St. Nikolaus von Falkenstein, successor to a small medieval chapel about which little is known, was built by Julius Echter in 1611/12, with the main altar only being completed after 1616. In 1616 the church was consecrated by the auxiliary bishop Eucharius Sang. In 1783 the original tower was demolished due to dilapidation and in 1788 a smaller one was built. In May 1862 the church was closed due to dilapidation and then thoroughly restored. On December 14, 1884, the high altar burned down and at the same time the organ pipes in the church melted due to the great heat. A disused altar from the Franciscan monastery in Würzburg could then be purchased and fitted to Falkenstein as a replacement. This new high altar was solemnly consecrated on June 24, 1885.

The tranquil town of Falkenstein has an inn and some wine growers to offer.
