Known as the lost town of Malaga, this town was forcibly uninhabited during the Franco regime because its neighbors had helped the anti-Franco guerrilla "Maquis". Many decades later it began to be rehabilitated and today it is beginning to re-emerge as a remote tourist destination, despite its proximity to the popular Frigiliana.

Mountain biking

El Acebuchal is a small, picturesque village, often referred to as "the lost village". It is located between Frigiliana and Cómpeta in the Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama Natural Park. After the Spanish Civil War, the village was evacuated in 1948 and remained abandoned for almost 50 years. In the late 1990s, descendants of the original inhabitants began to rebuild the village of El Acebuchal. Today it is a popular destination for rural tourism with whitewashed houses, cobbled streets and a traditional restaurant.

Cycling

Beautiful small village in the hidden valley under the mountain of El Fuerte. It takes some effort to get here, big inclines and partial gravel, but worth the effort. Small restaurant in the village has excellent local food and drinks.
