You should look for good sunscreen and carry enough liquid. Due to the wind, which is always present, the sun's radiation is not noticeable so much. A nice view is always available.

Following an elongated ridge, it goes up to Fuerteventura's highest mountain, the 807 m high Pico de La Zarza. The signposts PR FV 54 help with orientation. The first 1.5 hours are a "dry spell". From the summit the view is amazing. The north flank to the sea, right the Playa de Cofete, down two beaches umtoste of the surf.

If you want to climb the Pico de la Zarza, you should watch the weather on the days before if possible. When we were there, clouds came from Cofete at noon and covered the summit. We dawdled too much on the ascent and were up 20 minutes late. This prevented us from enjoying the wonderful view towards Cofete. It is best to start before breakfast. Since there is no shade on the entire route, you should apply a good cream and take enough liquid with you.
During our ascent (in February 2020) there was not much to see of the "green" that is normally up there. But that was probably because, according to a hotel employee, it last rained there about 1.5 years ago.
Even if we were unable to see Cofete, the climb was still worth it. The view of the coast towards Morro Jable was also very nice.
