The historic Fritz Reuter Haus was used as a secondary school from 1870. Then it became a secondary school with optional Latin and served as a Hungarian military hospital for a few weeks in 1945.
From 1945 to 1991 pupils in grades 1 to 10 were taught there in the Fritz Reuter Oberschule. From 1991 to 2002 the house was then "Realschule Fritz Reuter" for grades 5 to 10 and then from 2002 to 2005 as the regional school "Fritz Reuter" House II of the "Schule am Hufenweg". Then the Reuter-Haus was closed as a school and stood empty for a year. The library and youth center then moved into this building, since the building was still in an unrenovated condition in 2006. “The house was totally defective, the main facade was 70 percent destroyed. The repairs, which began in 2006, took a year.

After an extensive renovation, the Fritz-Reuter-Haus was reopened in its current splendor on December 20, 2008. It has become a real "eye-catcher".

The two-storey neoclassical plastered building from 1868/70 was expanded in 1936 and was formerly the Grabower Realschule and later the Fritz Reuter School. After 1990 the school was closed. Today, as a multi-generation Fritz Reuter house, the house houses the library and other public facilities.
