The alders in the marshy valley ground spray a mystical atmosphere in the right light. Characteristic of the black alder (Alnus glutinosa) is provided with Stelzwurzeln stem foot, through which they also cope with the seasonal water level fluctuations. The small, open water areas serve the moor frog as spawning waters and cranes like to use the Bruchwald as a breeding ground.

The alders grow mainly in the area of the silted areas, but suffer from the increasing drainage.
