The 100-year-old Dromersheimer Ladfass was newly renovated in 2021.

Name (also Ladfass) for a special barrel during the grape harvest (autumn). The name is derived from the Old High German word “Leitfaz” - “Leite” was understood to mean a load, wagon load or quantity. It had a large opening (expanded bunghole) onto which a grape mill with a funnel was placed. It was mounted on a two-wheeled cart that was pulled into the vineyard by horses during the grape harvest. There the freshly picked grapes were immediately ground and the mash was transported to the winery. Latfass was also generally used as a name for the container (also tub) for transporting grapes or must. It was also an old custom that after the grape harvest was over, the so-called Herbstmuck (a female harvest assistant) sat on this barrel and was driven to the winery on the last transport. The lead barrel was still used in the Rheingau and the Middle Rhine in the 20th century. See further customs under customs in viticulture.

Rest area, lovingly designed, with benches, beautiful view towards Bad Kreuznach. Comes just right after a fairly steep climb.

Located on the mountain, it is a good place to take a break.
