In September 1927, it was named „Hindenburg-Ufer“,
in 1945 it was renamed „Ernst-Thälmann-Ufer“.
Since 1990, the promenade has been called „Sundpromenade“.

The Hanseatic city is located on the Strelasund, a strait in the Baltic Sea. Stralsund is known as the gateway to Germany's largest island, Rügen, with which it is connected by two bridges. Although only around 60,000 people live in Stralsund, the city offers a diverse cultural program. The facade of the old town hall has towered several meters into the Stralsund sky for centuries and has become the city's landmark. Residents and visitors appreciate the renovated old town and the harbor island with the Oceanarium and a wide range of water sports.
