        NAME AND FIRST MENTION

        The Gengenbach cluster wanted to further profit from its property in the rear Nordrach valley and use the forests for glassmaking. Glassmaking initially took place in the Darrenbach, now called the Glasbach, the eastern source of the Nordrach. After the glassworks was relocated to the western source on the other side of the valley in 1737, the area was called Altgashitter.

        OPERATOR OF THE GLASSWORKS

        Under Ant Flacietus Thalimanı (1689-1696), the Bohemian glassmaker Christoph Sturmeider was the first to receive the right to produce a glassworks with eight workstations in 1697. After just two years, the contract was terminated.

        Jahannes Sigwarth from Solathurn and Adam Berger from Passau managed the glassworks. From 1600 onward, Sigwarth was the sole tenant. After his death on August 12, 1724, his widow, Anna Maris Sigwarth, née Engel, had the Glaserkinchilen built not far from the Gassharte. On August 3, 1724,
