The Leieborden, i.e. the banks of the Leie, are an oasis par excellence where young and old meet and where you can get to know the locals.
Here you can sit comfortably on one of the terraces and people watch or you can get a coffee to go and sit comfortably on the quay with a view of the beautiful Broeltorens, some of the few remains of the old city fortifications.

The towers are built of limestone and sandstone. The southern 'Speytorre' was built in 1385 to control traffic on the Lys. The tower was also part of the fortified enclosure of the first count's castle in Kortrijk. The northern 'Inghelburghtorre' from 1415 served as a weapons depot and was equipped for the use of artillery. The Broel Bridge originally dates from 1385. It was destroyed several times and rebuilt each time.

From April 2018 you can enjoy a terrace on the lowered banks. This is the tourist hotspot of Kortrijk, in a beautiful setting surrounded by the best Kortrijk has to offer.

The Broeltorens are two towers in the city of Kortrijk and are located along the Broelkaai and Verzetskaai.
