On the way further towards the Schweizerhaus, a raised marble vase can be seen on the left hand side on a small island in the Louisen pond. It was installed there in 1805 in memory of two princesses who died too early: Louise (1779-1801) and Helena Paulowna (1784-1803). Louise, a daughter of Duke Friedrich Franz I, was engaged to the Swedish King Gustav IV on November 1, 1795, and was thus the designated Queen of Sweden. But she had to find out from the newspaper that her fiancé had left in September 1796, under pressure from Tsarina Katharina the Elder. Big ones, to whose granddaughter Alexandra of Russia was engaged. Louise broke down over it and has been severely anorexic ever since. In order to remove her from the mockery of the world, she was married against her will to a brutally transvestite cousin from Gotha-Altenburg. After a short life without love, she died of "emaciation" during her first birth and is buried in Gotha. (The child, a girl, survived and was then the mother of Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria, the ancestor of today's royals.)

The monument on Louisen Island also commemorates the beloved Tsar's daughter and hereditary princess Helena Paulowna, who died of consumption at the age of 18 and who is buried in the Helenen Paulownen mausoleum.

The mother or mother-in-law of the two princesses, Duchess Louise (wife of Friedrich Franz I), who withdrew a lot to the Schweizerhaus, always wanted to keep an eye on the memorial stone from there, which she commemorated the different but equally sad fates who both remembered. Her own life, at the side of her husband, who was in love with life and love, was probably not very lucky either.
