"Each of these crosses can tell its own story and what motivated people to erect "their" cross at this spot. (...) These wayside crosses were erected as visible signs and attract the attention of many people. The cross is a symbol of life. It stands as a sign of our Christian hope and aims to direct our gaze to Jesus Christ, who has overcome death (...). The cross is part of our lives, just as it was part of the life of Jesus. So I hope that many people ... will visit the wayside crosses, whether as places of silence and breathing before God, whether as places of community gathering, prayer and praise of God." "The 890-meter-high Hirtstein is the highest mountain in the Central Ore Mountains. It rises northwest of Satzung. [...] When the weather is clear, you can see the highest peaks in the Western Ore Mountains from the Hirtstein, the Fichtelberg, Keilberg, Scheibenberg, Bärenstein and Pöhlberg. To the northwest you can see the gentle and increasingly flat hilly landscape of the Northern Ore Mountains. [...] To the east, the Rübenau plateau, which is up to 817 meters high, does not allow for such a good view. Parts of Rübenau (15km), Kühnhaide and Reitzenhain can always be seen. In the south, the view ends at the Ore Mountains ridge. The Bohemian mountain town of Sebastiansberg is clearly visible and further west the almost 1000-meter-high Haßberg."
