Bayerisch Eisenstein lies directly on the border with the Czech Republic and thus directly on a line that once split the beautiful Eisensteiner valley. At the time of the Iron Curtain it was only possible to enter the other side with a visa. Fortunately, this is now a thing of the past. The station still bears witness to this time and reminds it in a bizarre way: The border runs right through, so that the station has two postal addresses. On the German side only track two is in operation, Czech trains stop at tracks three and five.
