"The source area and stream valley of the Gernebach in the north-eastern part of the Haard has been designated a nature reserve (size approx. 40 ha) since 1991.
It is a dry moor with maidenhair moss and various grass species, e.g. narrow-leaved cotton grass, moor grass, grey sedge, etc., surrounded by pine forest, which is almost treeless due to ditches and groundwater extraction.A partially dry area with grasses and mosses, surrounded by pine forest and a part of the stream with a pond, moor and source area. Bog lilies and cranberries, plants on the red list, occur here. The stream still meanders naturally and is accompanied by tall herbaceous plants.
