In 1413 Heiligenhoven was first mentioned in a combing register of the Fronhof Lindlar with the name "Heiligenhoeven". [2] The castle ruin Unterheiligenhoven is still clearly visible today. It dates from the 15th century. At this castle, the Trinity chapel from 1705 stands directly on a hiking trail ("Um den Berg").

Lindlar-Unter Heiligenhoven

The chapel is a quarry stone building closed on three sides. Inside there is a simple altarpiece, supposedly from the 18th century, made of sandstone, with the relief of the Holy Trinity and the Coronation of Mary, underneath the seated full figures of God the Father and Christ, above the Waldenburg coat of arms. In the Liber pastoralis of 1705 it is mentioned as a station at the Theophoria magna. The second stop was made here for this “Great Divine Costume” on the Sunday after Corpus Christi. Later a procession moved here on the feast of Trinity. Today the feast day is marked by a holy mass in the chapel. Weddings were held in the chapel in 1799 and 1814, as recorded in the marriage register of the church in Lindlar.
