Day 4:
Sunday High Day visit Pissebaum & Latrop.
The bells have stopped clacking, Sunday mass is over.
Quickly our last sip and off we go.
Unfortunately we missed the blessing of Saint George and the churchgoers have already left.
The Pfarrkirche - Grafschaft is empty…
Triggered by the historical, tasty playful story of the ‘Pissebaum’ we followed the trail of believers from Laptrop today, more than 100 years ago.
As laymen over the Alter Kircheweg (the old church path) to Latrop.
The story of the ‘Pissebaum’ in a nutshell:
Before 1906 there was no place of worship in the village of Latrop. The residents of Latrop had to attend Sunday mass in Grafschaft. Especially for the men, ‘Früschoppen’ was almost obligatory afterwards. On the way back they sprinted to reach the edge of the forest because they felt 'a human urge'. From there it is clear to everyone how this tree got its name.

Well, the piss tree itself isn't really a pretty attraction. The history associated with it is all the more interesting and lets you look back at the history of the region several decades.

P.'s explanation could not be read on the Christmas path. Now there is only a harmless signpost with the distance to Bethlehem and Grafschaft.
