    Hiking

Waldmünchen looks back on more than a thousand years of history. The settlement was founded in the 10th century. The name Waldmünchen can probably be traced back to the forest monks from a nearby monastery, who provided pastoral care to the residents of the young village. Today you can stroll through the lovingly maintained old town and stop off in one of the numerous cafés or restaurants.

The Waldmünchen town hall is an impressive building. The exact date of its construction cannot be determined. It fell victim to the severe fires in 1658 and 1708 and could not be rebuilt until 1717. The town hall was built in its current architectural style in 1907 and was extended in 1986 by the "Stadlerhaus" with a three-storey cellar. The carillon, donated in 1986 by the citizen's medal winner Josef Dietl, can be heard from the town hall tower. Every day it plays his favorite melody "Die Schwirzer vom Landl". At 5 p.m. the melody "Is Feierabend" can be heard.
