Originally built as a manor house and almost destroyed by fire at the beginning of the last century, it was rebuilt as a castle. Located directly on the R1 cycle path. If you cycle along here, you should definitely visit the fieldstone pyramid in Garzau, which was created at the end of the 18th century. It's worth it!

Schloss Garzau with landscaped park and pyramid of the Count von Schmettau: The original mansion Garzau was destroyed in a fire in 1911 and rebuilt as a castle by the Berlin architect Hermann Dernburg. The landscaped park created by Count Friedrich Wilhelm Carl von Schmettau in 1780 is now completely overgrown. Count von Schmettau had the pyramid Garzau built in the park in 1784. Since its reconstruction in the years 2001 to 2010, it has been considered Germany's largest boulder pyramid (see Highlight komoot.de/highlight/69544).
