In the past, the miners of the former Hansa coal mine were sweating in these rooms. Today, the smithy and the workshop building are a cultural meeting place. The mine architect Paul Knobbe designed the building in Low German baroque stone Gothic.
It was built between 1903 and 1905.
The "Alte Schmiede" cultural center in Huckarde is now the place to be for events, meetings, exhibitions and practice sessions.
