The trail on the west and north side of the forest runs on or next to the old stone fence. This fence dates back to the beginning of the 19th century, when agriculture and forestry were separated. The fences of this kind should prevent the animals of the farmers from searching for food in the forests.
The construction of these stone fences was very labor intensive. The work was carried out by local farmers and professional stonemasons paid for it.
