The origin of the name of the village of Barsbek is explained by the ensemble of straw figures. Several centuries ago, there was a stream here with many perch: the so-called "Perschbach" (Perch Stream).

As part of the "Probsteier Korntage" every year in the period from mid-July to mid-September, various "straw figures" are set up in several villages of the Probstei. These are different every year and usually dedicated to a current and / or original motto.
