Lozerheide is an attraction for various breeding birds. Of the 130 species of breeding birds in Limburg, 80 occur here. The ponds of Lozerheide in particular are a busy meeting place for breeding birds. It is also the only breeding ground for the spoonbill in Limburg. The autumn crocus blooms here lushly around the end of August. Irrigation with lime-rich water made the soil more fertile and plant seeds were brought in from other regions. That is why many plants grow in this nature reserve that do not normally occur here. Lozerheide is the only place in Limburg where the bank thistle grows. The view of the large pond was awarded two landscape stars.
