Here you will find the remains of an old cable car, which took ore from the top of Cwm Bychan to a processing plant near Nantmor over a distance of about 1.4 km. Many parts of the cable car still remain and it is possible to "reconstruct" the machine in detail based on this. There is a terminal station at the top. This consists of an iron scaffolding supporting a horizontal wheel with a diameter of approximately 1.5 meters, around which the cable ran.

Up in the valley of Cwm Bychan you can find old pylones of an abandoned copper mine. During an early industrialization there is a lot of copper mines and slate quarries over snowdonia, but today they've all been closed down.

Several pylons in the landscape.
These are the remains of the cable car built in 1927 to carry copper ore down from the top of Cwm Bychan. Historical accounts indicate that the system was not a complete success, as it is said that the buckets often hit the ground and spilled their cargo. The remains of cable car entrances, tailings dumps and other buildings bear witness to the area's industrial past. The area also includes internationally rare heathland, found only in the western coastal areas of Europe. It provides habitat for numerous butterflies and birds.
