The listed Buchholz Castle was built in 1760 and expanded in 1767 by adding an elongated chapel on the east side. The castle includes two farm buildings and the garden house at “Alte Dorfstrasse 29”. The builder was Franz Anton von Bayer, Imperial Councilor and Mayor of Freiburg. It is a two-story solid building, the south facade has seven axes, the narrow sides have five and four axes with a high hipped roof. The main portal in the Rococo style has a basket arch opening with the coat of arms of those from Ow-Wachendorf and Spitzeberg, which has been used there since 1906. Since then, the coat of arms of the builders “von Bayer” has been in a window of the garden house and an outside staircase. The interior with stucco ceilings has been preserved. The castle also has a walled park from 1767 with a garden house, which was restored in 1953.
The property has been renovated since 2019.
