Located in picturesque surroundings, one of the largest village churches in Lower Saxony: the St. Dionysius Church of St. Dionys. Here the place is called after the church. Legend has it that Charlemagne founded the first church here as early as 795. It was named after the patron saint of Charles, Saint Dionysius, who was beheaded in 285 as Bishop of Paris during a persecution of Christians.

The current church was built on the site of the old church in neo-Gothic style and consecrated in 1860. After the renovation, it offers visitors the original design and color scheme as far as possible. The baptism (1608/1689) taken over from the previous church, the painted wood grain in the panels of the pulpit and galleries, the coffered ceiling and the striking altar background are remarkable. The romantic Furtwängler organ was faithfully reconstructed by the organ building company Amadeus Junker (Meinersen).

The church is open daily from April to September, usually from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., for visitors and for silent prayer.

The center of the village is the St. Dionysius Church, which is said to have been founded as early as 795 by Charles, King of the Franks, five years before his coronation as emperor.
