On the wooden footbridge near the Flootsmühle you are in the middle of the nature adventure area Krickenbecker Seen. The pond is spawning grounds for frogs, newts and other amphibians and serves as a refuge for many species of birds. Whether in the reed belt or in the willow fields - there is always something to observe at this small nature oasis. The access path is barrier-free, without steps and with little incline, so that the wooden platform on the water can also be reached by wheelchair. In total, there are wheelchair-accessible roundabouts and six color-coded hiking routes of varying lengths in the nature discovery area. Information about all offers in the nature adventure area you will receive in the information center Krickenbecker lakes.
From the jetty it is not far to the historic Flootsmühle. However, the remaining Müllerhaus is not open to the public as it is now used as a private residence. The mill has always been a place of rest and devotion for pilgrims who travel from Jülich Land via the Roman road to Kevelaer. A simple wooden cross on the tree in front of the miller's house points out. "...

My second visit to the biotope. Spring brings a completely different mood, it is worthwhile to stop by at different seasons.

The biological station Krickenbecker Seen e.V. (BSKS) exists since 1988, its seat is in Nettetal Hombergen. The predecessor of the Biological Station is the "Ornithological Working Group Krickenbeck" (OAG), the 1970 u.a. founded by Georg Sennert. Its members are still volunteers in nature conservation. The focus of the work was mainly on the preservation of the nature reserve Krickenbecker lakes. The OAG not only made ornithological observations there, but also carried out other faunistic and floristic investigations.

An observation deck on the water at the Flootsmühle gives an insight into a beautiful biotope, a small pond. The pond is located in the immediate vicinity of Flootsmühle.
